The Ibex Multi-Day's little brother, the Ibex Challenge covers 138km over 5 stages, running alongside the full event. Race days are Monday to Friday, December 23 to 27, 2020, in what will be a fabulous festive challenge on a fully marked course over mixed trails and terrain.
The Ibex Challenge is ideal for those wanting a slightly less demanding event particularly important during this year, when many runners have had their training plans altered if not curtailed. It'll also be ideal for first time multi-day stage racers, who want to test their skills over the fully marked, mixed trail course.
Daily routes follow a similar theme and direction to the full event. Participants will stay in the same accommodation as the full event participants, enjoy the same meals, and equal high-class medical support.
The first day's route heads away from Moclin, towards the ancient town of Colomera and the remains of its Arab Nazrid fortress. The second day rolls out into the olive groves on sun-baked trails, while the day three is all about the views over Sierra Elvira and the snow-capped Sierra Nevada behind. Day four takes runners over Sierra Puerto Lope and along the Camino de las Trompetas, with day five into Moclin's Gollizno gorge and the mountains beyond.
