IBEX MULTI-DAY | ULTRA & CHALLENGE

Participants must comply with the official Rules and Regulations when taking part in the IBEX MULTI-DAY / CHALLENGE

The following Rules and Regulations also include the Terms and Conditions. Any person not complying with any of the Rules and Regulations, particularly in regards to personal safety and medical requirements, may not be able to start the event or may not be allowed to continue.

English is the official language of the IBEX MULTI-DAY / CHALLENGE.

Article 1: ORGANIZATION

1.1 Ultra Trail Spain, Ref: Y3261941A, with the collaboration of the City Council of Moclín, organize the IBEX MULTI-DAY ULTRA / CHALLENGE. Hereby known as the Organizers. The second edition of the event will be held between 23 December 2022 and 27 December 2022, in Moclín and surrounding areas in the province of Granada, Spain.

Article 2: ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS OF THE RACE

2.1 The IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA is a 212KM ultra race of 5 stages over 5 days and the IBEX MULTI-DAY - CHALLENGE is a 136KM  race of 5 stages over 5 days. Each participant must carry a pack or equivalent containing mandatory equipment and follow the route markings (clearly taped route) in order to complete the course.

2.2 In the event of forces beyond the Organizers control, or if it is necessary for the safety of participants, the right is reserved to modify the rules and conditions of the IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA / CHALLENGE, the details of the race, and the route of the race. Any such modifications will be duly communicated to the participants.

2.3 Registration for the IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA or CHALLENGE implies the acceptance of the rules and the adequate preparation by the participant for the event, being aware of geographical and meteorological conditions. In this regard, the participant exempts the Organizers from possible health problems that may arise from participation.

2.4 Enrolled participants understand that they do so voluntarily and under their own responsibility, and therefore, exonerate the Organizers from all responsibility. In doing so, they agree not to denounce the Organizers, staff, volunteers, collaborators, sponsors and other participants; as well as not to initiate any claim of civil responsibility towards the above mentioned parties.

Article 3: REGISTRATION AND REQUIREMENTS OF PARTICIPANTS

3.1 To participate in the IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA or CHALLENGE, the following requirements must be met:

  • Be over 21 years at the time of registration.
  • Accept, without reservation, the regulations of the event and any instructions sent by the Organizers in relation to the event.
  • Have successfully completed deposit and balance payments.
  • All runners will be required to carry a timing chip to track their progress at checkpoints. This will be provided at final registration and must be returned at the end of the event.
  • Provide the following information prior to the start of the event. (Upon payment of your deposit, you will receive an instructions / links for the following):-
    • Travel / transfer details
    • Officially completed medical certificate

3.2 Registrations will be available via: https://ibexmultiday.com/registration-ibex-multi-day-ultra/ from 27 December 2021 until 15 December 2022,or earlier if the event is sold out.

3.3 Entry Fee:

3.4 Payment Protection. It is only available at the time of your initial registration when making the registration payment in full, and is optional.

3.5 Included in your registration fee:

  • Race crew and medical support throughout event.
  • Six nights' accommodation - shared occupancy.
  • Malaga airport bus transfer to and from the race location in Moclín, Granada at stipulated time/s.
  • Live race results at checkpoints and finish line. (People will be able to follow your results in real time!)
  • Evening, vegetarian meal each day.
  • Pre-race pasta party and race briefing.
  • Celebratory meal and award's ceremony on the last night of the race.
  • Available water for the duration of the race.
  • All checkpoints will have water and cola, and from 20km there will also be tea, coffee and hot water, plus fruit and salty snacks.
  • Hot water available at the accommodation throughout the duration of your stay, for hot drinks and dehydrated meals (recovery and breakfast, provided by yourself).
  • Finishers' medal & t-shirt.

Not included in your registration fee: - flights, personal travel insurance, breakfast, daytime meals and daytime race food such as gels and sports bars.

Article 4: REFUND, TRANSFER, DEFERRAL & AMENDMENT POLICY

4.1 Deferrals are calculated on the entire amount paid to date, excluding any Payment Protection if applicable. Any participant may defer their entry to the next year's event once. We will gladly defer a percentage of your entire payment(s) to the next year's race entry, as follows:-

100% - 181 days or more before the event start date.
80% – 180 days or less before the event start date.
60% – 90 days or less before the event start date.
0 % – 30 days or less before the event start date.

4.2 Refunds for cancellation WITH “PAYMENT PROTECTION:-  Those who have purchased Payment Protection during registration, will be eligible for a refund of 100% of the registration fee up to 60 days before the event start date, and 50% up to 30 days before the event start date (excluding the Payment Protection fee), provided that the cancellation is for a justified medical reason and presenting a medical certificate proving the cause that prevents the participation in the IBEX MULTI-DAY 2022. Payment Protection expires 30 days before the event start date.

4.2 Refunds for cancellation WITHOUT “PAYMENT PROTECTION”:-  Cancellation refunds will be made on the following basis:

First 300 euros of your initial payment is non-refundable and non-transferable.

In the event of a participant canceling due to a medically supported injury / illness or pregnancy, they can pass the remaining balance of the entry fee to another person, or be refunded a percentage of the entry fee paid, as follows:-

75% – 181 days or more before the event start date.
50% – 180 days or less before the event start date.
25% – 60 days or less before the event start date.
0 % – 30 days or less before the event start date.

4.3 Please note, due to pre-event planning and logistics, we cannot facilitate refunds, transfers or deferrals closer than 30 days before the start of the race.

4.4 Participant’s cancellations / deferrals and requests for refunds must be made by email.

4.5 Amendment:  Registered participants may change between IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA and CHALLENGE up until 14 days before the start of the race.  Participants cannot switch between the two events after this date.

*Once the request for withdrawal is made, the place becomes available to the Organizers, who will transfer it to the person who occupies the first position on the waiting list at that time.

Article 5: INSURANCE

5.1 The IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA / CHALLENGE is covered by its own comprehensive public liability insurance. This also includes participants personal accident insurance.

Please note, travel insurance is not included (we strongly recommend you arrange suitable travel insurance).

Article 6: MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

6.1 All runners without exception must carry the following equipment to take part in the IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA or CHALLENGE. You will be notified at nightly race briefings should there be any daily exceptions.

  • Mobile phone
  • Front headlight / torch - and spare batteries , and red back light (not required for IBEX MULTI-DAY - CHALLENGE).
  • Thermal blanket
  • Whistle
  • Cup for hot / cold drinks: no cups / glasses will be provided at checkpoints
  • Waterproof jacket, with hood
  • Waterproof trousers
  • Long-sleeved top
  • Cap, headwear or similar
  • Capacity to carry 1 litre (min) of liquid

6.2 There can be an inspection of mandatory kit at any point throughout the race. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

6.3 Recommended Equipment

  • Sunscreen
  • Electrolytes and / or mineral salts
  • Energy food: Energy bars, gels or similar
  • Mini first-aid kit
  • Sunglasses
  • Gloves
  • Poles

Article 7: NUMBER COLLECTION

7.1 Numbers will be collected on check-in and final registration at the accommodation.

7.2 The participant will be obliged to wear their number on the front of their body, in a visible location and on top of clothes.

7.3 A timing tag, personal to your race number, in the form of a timing tag will be issued at the same time as number collection. You must ensure you carry your timing tag on each day of the race. (No tag = no time!) Timing tags must be returned on retirement, or at the end of the race.

Article 8: CHECKPOINTS, LITTERING AND OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE

8.1 The race route will be marked with specific marking and marking tape. Participants will be notified of any course changes at daily briefings.

8.2 Each participant must follow the entire marked route, without missing any signage, and going through all checkpoints.

8.3 In addition to the fixed checkpoints indicated on the official website the Organizers reserve the right to add extra checkpoints at any point along the route.

8.4 Participants are obliged to attend to the requests and questions of any race official, either in stipulated checkpoints or at any other point of the route.

8.5 It is totally forbidden to receive external help or supplies during the race outside of checkpoints provided by the Organizers. The only exception will be any bars or shops you pass.

8.6 It is forbidden to be accompanied by other people or pacers (running or hiking) who are not participants enrolled in the test.

8.7 Each checkpoint will have a specific closing time. You must pass through before this time in order to be allowed to continue.

8.8 Checkpoint supplies vary depending on their location in the race. This is highlighted in daily stage information. You must carry adequate food and liquid based on your personal intake.

8.9 IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA / CHALLENGE passes through some environmentally sensitive areas. Littering of any kind on the course is not permitted. Please carry any litter you may have to the next checkpoint. Rubbish disposal must be made at designated points in the checkpoints.

Article 9: SAFETY AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

9.1 Medical crew will coordinate with the race HQ, located in Moclín. Medical crew will also travel between the different checkpoints, so participants may ask for assistance if required.

9.2 Where necessary, medical examinations may be made on course. Refusal of a participant to cooperate fully with the medical crew may result in immediate disqualification.

9.3 Participants will accept the decisions of the race doctor and medical crew. Their decision is considered as final.
The race doctor and medical crew may:
• Remove from the event any participant that they consider incapable of continuing.
• Order the evacuation of any participant who they consider of being in danger.
• If necessary, order the hospitalization of a participant.

Article 10: DROP OUT AND EVACUATION

10.1 Withdrawals must be made at checkpoints. If by accident or injury, the participant cannot reach a checkpoint they must follow the rescue procedure as set out in the pre-race briefing.

10.2 Transport will be available from checkpoints for participants who withdraw. Some checkpoints are located in difficult to reach locations and so you may have to wait for this to be facilitated.

10.3 If deemed medically fit to continue, participants who drop out on one stage, may be allowed to continue the next day. However, they will not be classed as 'finishing' the event, nor feature in the overall placings (individual or team).

Article 11: MODIFICATION OF THE ROUTE OR SUSPENSION OF THE EVENT

11.1 In case of bad weather conditions or force majeure, the Organizers reserve the right to suspend, neutralize or modify the cut-off times or course.

11.2 In case of cancellation due to force majeure 7 days or more in advance of the start of the event, a partial refund of the registration fee will be made minus any expenses all ready made by the Organizers.

11.3 In case of cancellation occurring less than 7 days prior to the start of the event, for reasons beyond the control of the Organizers, or in case of suspension once the event has started, no refund will be made.

Article 12: AWARDS

12.1: The categories for the IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA and CHALLENGE 2022 are established based on the age of the participant as of 1st January 2022 and are as follows:

The categories for IBEX MULTI-DAY | ULTRA 2022 will be as follows:

  • Absolute (21 and over)

Subcategories:

  • Promise (21 to 23)
  • Senior (24 to 39)
  • Veterans A (40 to 49)
  • Veterans B (50 to 59)
  • Veterans C (60 and over)

The categories for IBEX MULTI-DAY | CHALLENGE 2022 will be as follows:

  • Absolute (21 and over)

Subcategories:

  • Promise (21 to 23)
  • Senior (24 to 39)
  • Veterans A (40 to 49)
  • Veterans B (50 to 59)
  • Veterans C (60 and over)

Trophies or certificates will be awarded to the first three classified in each established category, both male and female.

The prizes will not be accumulated.

12.2 All finishers, who have successfully completed the 5 stages, will receive a bespoke Finisher's IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA  / CHALLENGE medal and Finisher’s T-Shirt.

Article 13: IMAGE RIGHTS

13.1 To formalize your registration, you will be required to sign a Media Release at final registration and accommodation check-in. The signature of this Media Release implies that the participant authorizes ULTRA TRAIL SPAIN to take photographs and film of their participation in the IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA or CALLENGE, and gives them their consent for its dissemination, commercial and advertising exploitation of all the images taken during the IBEX MULTI-DAY - ULTRA or CHALLENGE.

Article 14: DATA PROTECTION

In compliance with the regulations of Spanish data protection legislation (Law 15/1999 of December 13). We inform you that by registering you authorize the Organizers (Ultra Trail Spain) to collect your personal data for the use solely of processing your race entry. Likewise, those registered expressly give the Organizers the right to use their name, surname, category and results obtained. And similarly, to communicate the data provided to us to be included in automated files to be shared with relevant organizations (for example, medics in case of medical information). We also inform you that you can exercise your access rights at any time, correction, and cancellation in the terms provided in the Law, by means of a letter addressed to "Ultra Trail Spain (IbexMultiDay.com)" Cl/ Al Andalus 10, Moclin, 18247 Granada, Spain or sending an email to "info@IbexMultiDay.com".
